    no probs Cliff - we're all getting on a bit:faf:

    actually it's a fairly common misconception that the Jacobites lost the battle, probably due to the Scots dialect being used. A friend of mine from Uphall and I were having a bit banter with a couple of English expats watching the rugby in a sports bar in Accra, Ghana last year and I happened to have the song on my phone so decided to play it - he then asked me why I was playing it as the English (government forces) had won. He took a bit of convincing that it was the Jacobites who won

    The events at Soldiers Leap IIRC took place in the late 1600's or early 1700's at a time when the Jacobites had a decent record in the "derbies!"

    The problems arose when their new "Italian manager" hit the drink and tried to take his team to a level that they weren't prepared to compete at!
